Reese Witherspoon definitely has a few great movies under her belt, but after her divorce from her husband of eight years, Ryan Phillippe, her career kind of took a turn for the worse.
In a new interview, which aired on '60 Minutes' yesterday, the 38-year-old opened up about her rocky past — and how she equates her failed marriage to her falling career!
"I spent a few years just trying to feel better," she said. "You know, you can't really be very creative when you feel like your brain is scrambled eggs."
Reese and Ryan, 40, who wed in 1999, finalized their divorce in October 2007 after rumors swirled the 'Cruel Intentions' actor had been unfaithful with Australian star Abbie Cornish.
Since then, the actress has starred in not-so-popular films like 'The Good Lie' and 'Devil's Knot.'
"I was just kind of floundering career-wise cause I wasn't making things I was passionate about, I was just kinda working," says the blonde beauty, who's now up for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama for her portrayal as Cheryl Strayed in 'Wild'. "It was really clear the audiences weren't responding to anything I was putting out there."
Now, the 'Legally Blonde' star is happily married to talent agent, Jim Toth. The couple welcomed their first child together, Tennessee James, in 2012.
Reese shares custody of her other two children, daughter Ava, 15, and son Deacon, 11, with her ex-husband.
