This is the Way the World Ends: Not With a Bang, But With a (9-Year-Old's) Whimper

Meet 9-year-old Kristina Pimenova -- she's the "world's youngest supermodel," or "the most beautiful girl in the world" -- a model who boasts nearly 400k followers on Instagram and over 2 million Facebook fans. In the comments section of both platforms, Kristina is hailed as "hot," "sexy," and a "babe." What's wrong with this picture? Here's a hint: if your answer is "nothing," then you're probably part of the problem, too. 

Kristina -- and her parents, who are just awful for allowing their 9-year-old to enter the psyche-damaging world of modeling -- has been modeling since the age of 3, and for big-name clients like Cavalli, Versace, and and Vogue, amongst others, too. Her mother (a former model herself, of course) and father (a soccer player for Russia) decided Kristina would model back when she was a baby, after people advised them that Kristina had extraordinary features. 

This little girl is beautiful, no doubt -- but if we're being honest, the fact is that this little girl likely has a super hard life ahead of her. As for her parents allowing this kind of profession -- as well as their promotion on social media, a dangerous tool as it is -- is appalling. Let the child be a child, for crying out loud.
