Demi Lovato Writes Uplifting New Year's Message About Body Image

Leave it to Demi Lovato to be the first celeb to inspire us in 2015!
The 22-year-old, who famously entered rehab in 2010 for substance abuse and problems stemming from an eating disorder, took to Instagram to reflect on her year — but not in the way you'd expect.
The 'Heart Attack' singer posted two images of herself ahead of New Year's, one from the beginning of 2014 and one from the end, writing, "I was beautiful then, and I'm beautiful now...I decided to focus on bettering myself by making changes in my life with health, balance, endurance and consistency.
"You don't have to wait till the beginning of a new year to make resolutions for yourself," she continued. "It's all about loving and taking care of the only body you will ever have…cherish it, love it, embrace it…Because when you do...It begins to show."
The former Disney Channel star has become somewhat of a celebrity spokesperson when it comes to eating disorders, having struggled with one so publicly a few years back.

Of the disease, she said, “There's a wide misconception that anorexia and/or bulimia is a choice and you often hear people say things like ‘why doesn't she just start eating?’ Or even ‘just stop throwing up.’
“It's the ignorance and lack of education on mental illnesses that continues to [p]ut (sic) mental health care on the back burner...even though this is an epidemic that is sweeping our nation,” she wrote on Twitter in November.
Bravo to Demi for being an advocate for girls everywhere!
